Food For Thought Girls’ Football Tournament
Friday 9th July, 2021
After an enforced break last year, the annual Girls’ Football Tournament will return this summer! We are currently signing teams up to enter and would encourage you to act quickly, as we only have two places still available for this year’s competition.
The tournament is open to teams of girls aged 7-11 years and your school’s team can be made up of mixed ages (one team per school). It is a 7-a-side tournament, but you will be allowed to enter a squad of ten girls in total. Teams will be placed in leagues and matches will be played outdoors on 3G pitches. The venue this year is Anfield Sports & Community Centre, Lower Breck Road, L6 0AG. Start time is 10am and we will finish around 2.15pm.
All girls who attend on the day will receive a medal of participation, with the winners of the tournament being presented with a trophy! Lunch, refreshments and cold drinks will be provided free of charge throughout the day, by Food For Thought.
This year we are working in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club Foundation (the club’s official charity), who will be facilitating the tournament. All teams that enter will be offered a free 2-hour football coaching session, at your school, in the weeks running up to the 9th July, by the LFC Foundation team. These girls-only sessions will teach your pupils new football skills, whilst encouraging fun and building confidence.
Please contact me by email, as soon as possible, to confirm your school’s wish to enter the tournament and secure your team’s place. If you have any questions about the tournament, please call me. Thank you.
